The deepest place on earth might offer clues to the origin of life.

The movie director James Cameron is on mission to the bottom of the oceans. The Deepsea Challenger expedition discovered microbial mats which live off chemicals found on rocks at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Some researchers believe that a similar setup could have started the chemicals steps which lead to life on earth. 

It will be interesting to see how in the coming years, we might come closer to answer this fundamental question.
